​Dr. S. Prakash is an accomplished scientist and educator with a strong foundation in bioinformatics, molecular biology, and environmental sciences. With years of experience in research and teaching, he has made significant contributions to the fields of genomics, phylogenetics, and computational biology. Dr. Prakash has designed and implemented numerous programs, workshops, and courses that bridge the gap between biological sciences and computational tools, empowering students and professionals to excel in the rapidly evolving field of bioinformatics.
He has a distinguished academic background, holding a Ph.D. in Marine Biology and postdoctoral research as a Fulbright-Nehru Fellow at Clemson University, USA. He has worked at various levels throughout his career like SRF twice, Project Assistant, Project Associate, Scientist C twice and many more. He was a part of several funded projects as well. He has guided numerous students and professionals through hands-on training and innovative research projects.
Dr. Prakash is a well-known researcher with over 66 publications and an h-index of 12, i10 Index of 19 with 549 citations highlighting his significant impact in the scientific community. His contributions to coral reef studies, molecular adaptations, and climate change research have earned him numerous achievements, including the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship and grants from esteemed organizations like DST-SERB and The Rufford Foundation.
In addition, Dr. Prakash is passionate about educating future leaders in bioinformatics through engaging, practical, and career-focused learning experiences. His knowledge and expertise make him a valuable mentor for learners exploring this computational technology of Bioinformatics.
