Let's Go Zero Waste

There is no such thing as "waste" in Nature. In nature, the by-product of one system is a resource for another system. As the consumption demand of the population keeps on increasing there is a critical need to understand where we can make changes in our lifestyle and choices that will help reduce our carbon footprint.

"Zero Waste" is a way of life that promotes judicious use, reuse, and recycling of materials, and motivates businesses to manufacture and market less toxic and more durable, repairable, reusable, recycled, and recyclable products. Living a zero-waste lifestyle is a goal that is ethical, economical, efficient, and visionary, where all discarded materials are designed to become resources for others to use.

We at The Nature's Eye along with Your Own Green Space bring you a 5-day workshop on Let's go zero waste to help you understand the importance of this concept and how you can apply it in your daily lifestyle with fun and interactive sessions. We will provide you with realistic and feasible zero-waste changes that you can make at a personal level to transition to a healthier lifestyle.

To be the change she wanted to see in the world, Mahiya started an Instagram account Your Own Green Space to share her sustainable lifestyle, participating as a speaker/advocate for sustainable lifestyle in online webinars and seminars. Mahiya organized clean-up and plantation drives with a Delhi-based NGO WePlant and continued with setting up sustainable product stalls in the Lucknow farmers market and some college fest to create awareness about how our consumption has led to production and degradation. Together with co-founding a zero-waste lifestyle residential boot camp to help people understand the key points of zero-waste lifestyle and its correlation with their own lives she also advocated tetra pack recycling and waste management with The Kabadiwala and Tetra pack India in a campaign last year and created awareness in 15 residential and 16 schools/ colleges. With YFCI’s young changemakers boot camp, she learned how to mobilize young people, provide a platform to build their leadership skills and drive community-driven social change. YFCI’s on-ground campaign “Clean air campaign” was launched last year in 3 cities. As their city lead in Lucknow, she has conducted Clean Air Charcha in a few city colleges and coordinated the city perception survey with volunteers.
