What is The Roadkill Project
Every monsoon, India’s roads become deathtraps for countless animals — This number skyrockets during the monsoon, smaller animals are usually ignored. These creatures emerge to breed, migrate, or simply find warmth — only to be met by speeding vehicles.

Do's and Don'ts
✅ DO’s
-
Slow Down in Wildlife Zones
Always reduce your speed in areas known for wildlife activity. Speeding reduces your reaction time and increases the chances of hitting an animal. -
Brake, Don’t Ignore
If you see an animal crossing, brake firmly and avoid swerving. Never dismiss it as “just an animal” — every life matters. Honk gently to alert the animal without startling it dangerously. -
Use Headlights Responsibly
High beams can help spot animals at night, but adjust your lights to avoid glare that may blind oncoming drivers or confuse wildlife..
❌ DON’Ts
-
Don’t Overspeed — Anywhere
Speeding is a leading cause of animal roadkills. Even in urban or rural roads, slow down — small animals like snakes, frogs, and civets often go unnoticed. -
Don’t Litter from Your Vehicle
Throwing food or trash attracts animals to the roadside, putting them directly in harm’s way. Wildlife may mistake litter for food or prey and end up becoming a casualty. -
Don’t Ignore Roadkills
If you come across a roadkill, report it. While you may not be able to help the animal, your report can assist researchers and authorities in identifying hotspots and preventing future incidents.
