When asked what's your favourite animal, whats your first answer? Maybe dogs, or cats, or rabbits, but how often do you hear someone name wild animals like 'snakes', or 'tarantulas'! When we hear about these animals, we either feel fear or disgust. That's the narrative we want to change. All of us are fascinated with wildlife, but very few of us actually know about it, especially those animals that are an integral part of our ecosystem but are viewed by humans as a threat.

People of the Forest is a venture by two wildlife biologists, created to bring regular people closer to the Indian Wildlife scenes. Through PoF, we aim to make every Indian knowledgeable of our native wildlife, bust myths and fears around wild animals and create a generation of people who embrace nature with all its wilderness.
HABITAT HUNT AT MNP
People of the Forest conducted a Nature Trail combined with a Treasure Hunt at Maharashtra Nature Park, where participants were taken around the beautiful manmade forest, and then their learnings were quizzed, the perfect combination to remember names of animals around you as well as have fun and conserve our native flora.
MONSOON BIODIVERSITY EXPEDITION
People of the Forest in collaboration with Bridge to Circular Economy conducted a 2-day workshop and biodiversity trail at the evergreen forest of Matheran. Our participants witnessed Matheran in all its glory as they fought through heavy rains and ventured out to learn about the native flora and fauna of our vicinity.
BARVI ECOLOGY TRAIL
Barvi Dam is infamous for its beautiful underappreciated diversity. From critters to mammals, all can be found in these beautiful forests. People of the Forest ventured out into this mysterious forest over the span of 2 days with a diverse group of people to learn about the wildlife. From snake to caterpillars, all was witnessed that day.
HERPETOLOGY WORKSHOP
At the very first workshop of the People of the Forest, we ventured out into Matheran in early June. The workshop covered the basics of herpetology, ornithology, evolution and ecology. Participants were introduced to ecological terminologies and aspects, which they not only learnt in the sessions about but also witnessed in the field.
With People of the Forest, no trail will be simply a trail, but an experience. We focus not just on learning about nature, but experiencing it and enjoying it. Expect engaging short quizzes, games, stories, experiments but mostly, lots and lots of fun!
