Dr. Nikhil Modak is an accomplished herpetologist, bioacoustician, and conservation scientist with extensive expertise in amphibian ecology, molecular phylogenetics, and acoustic
communication.
Dr. Modak currently serving as Assistant Professor (Research) at the Henryk Hoyer, Department of Comparative Anatomy, Jagiellonian University. His career includes significant contributions as Project Scientist at the Wildlife Institute of India, where he led herpetofaunal surveys, acoustic monitoring, and citizen science initiatives.
His pioneering research on the molecular phylogeny and ecology of the endemic leaping frogs (Ranixalidae) of the Western Ghats has greatly advanced the understanding of amphibian diversity and conservation priorities in India. He has 13 peer-reviewed publications and multiple international research grants under his name.
We are honored to have Dr. Nikhil Modak leading this course, where participants will gain learning experience n both field-based and laboratory-based amphibian research, gaining insights about practical skills essential for scientific study, conservation, and ecological monitoring.
